email delight

What a thrill to receive an email from my friends at Venus Life. I'm excited about the training programs, the corporate challenge and all the other events going on. Good luck, all!

Name change and new website domain name for Venus

Hello all,

We are going to be changing the name to "Venuslife" by August 31,2007. We ran into some issues with our current name on some possible trademark issues. So we have agreed to make the changes and keep everyone happy (sorta).

Hi!

I just wanted to introduce myself and why I'm here. I was really out of shape, and about a year ago I started to go to the gym. I started going to a boot camp style class, and it along with diet changes has changed my life. I've lost 50lbs, and I have lots of energy. I got a crazy idea in my head that I wanted to be in the gay olympics in 2010. I looked at the events, and decided on Triathlon. I wondered how I would train, and got an email the next day from a collegue who had joined Team in Training. So I joined up and will be in my first official triathlon in a couple weeks, yippy!

My 5 minute workout

What gets you out the door?  Getting out the door is the hardest part of every training program or regimen.  I have found telling myself I will go out for 5 minutes and see how I feel...then when I get to that first 5 minutes I am usually able to do another 5 and so on till I forget I was only doing 5 minutes to begin with.  I get this is a mental game and for me it usually works...granted some days...well you all know the answer to that one!

On the road ... sort of...

Have not been on top of the training plan I imagined... But I did go out with one of the girls for a work-out...

Things are crazy right now... I'm planning to get as many work-outs in as I can in the next couple of weeks, and will use my three weeks off of school to solidify a training schedule.
(At least, that's the plan... I'm pushing for it!)

Life is crazy...

I'm a believer

Back in Winston-Salem for a week and found some time to run. This training-at-altitude thing really works. Did my usual "long" run here at home significantly faster and feeling better than ever. Which makes feeling like hell the 1st two weeks in Boulder really worth it. Hopefully my week home hasn't undone it all.

13 weeks to go

Thirteen weeks out from the IronVenus tri...

Got two friends interested, so we're going for the relay.

I need to get on the bike... I keep making excuses about being in school AND working, and that it's okay for me to be tired at the end of these long days...

Starstruck

Last night went to a barbeque that turned out to be a who's who of triathlon. I didn't know any of the people by face, but later learned that I had been chatting with Joanna Zeiger, Craig Alexander, Simon Lessing, Emma Snowsill, Dave Scott, Wolfgang Deitrich, Chris Legh, Gordo Byrn, Monica Byrn and all kinds of other athletes.

When I run here in Boulder I am endlessly amazed, first, at how many fit people there are here and second how little everyone works. Does no one have a full-time job?
