What gets you out the door? Getting out the door is the hardest part of every training program or regimen. I have found telling myself I will go out for 5 minutes and see how I feel...then when I get to that first 5 minutes I am usually able to do another 5 and so on till I forget I was only doing 5 minutes to begin with. I get this is a mental game and for me it usually works...granted some days...well you all know the answer to that one!
Keep in mind...Really keep in mind getting out the door is always a mental issue. Physically you are good...just that little mind issue that causes most of us to find something else to do (usually for someone else so we have an excuse..."I gotta get this done" ) the load of laundry can wait till you get back...you can check your email after you get back. Besides, maybe if you get in a little exercise (taking care of you) you will be better able to answer that email or not mind doing the laundry. So, as Katrina (my favorite Starbucks woman) say's..."I am eliminating all possible excuses so I have nothing to put blame on for not getting my workouts in."
Five minutes is all it takes to change your (my) mind...by then I know I am half way up my neighborhood hill and I might as well keep going cause I know I get to run down that hill and that feels good to me.
So, the next time you find excuses to NOT get some exercise in, stop and catch your thoughts and change it to I am going for at least 5 minutes. I know you all can commit to 5 minutes.
Have a super day...
